ShopHouzz.com, the standalone marketplace launched by Houzz less than a year ago, has announced it is shutting down operations.
If you sell products for home, décor, furniture, or renovation, you probably know Houzz. The platform has long been popular with homeowners looking for inspiration, contractors, designers, and renovation ideas. Sellers could also list products on Houzz as part of the ecosystem.
Shop Houzz launched less than a year ago. It operated independently and had no affiliation with Houzz.com or Houzz Pro. The idea appeared to be creating a more dedicated shopping platform focused on home products and décor.
Now, ShopHouzz.com has posted a message confirming that it is closing operations.

According to the announcement, the company will continue fulfilling outstanding orders and supporting recent purchases during the wind-down process. The notice also clarified that ShopHouzz operated independently and that Houzz.com and Houzz Pro services will continue operating normally.
This is another reminder of how difficult it has become to build and scale marketplace platforms, even with an established brand and existing traffic. Competition in eCommerce continues to be intense, especially in categories like home and furniture where logistics, returns, and customer acquisition costs can be challenging.
For sellers, this also highlights the importance of multi-channel selling and not depending too heavily on a single marketplace channel.
