Etsy marketplace sales down 6% year-over-year, but up 141% compared to 2019

Etsy published its Second Quarter 2022 Financial Results. The marketplace GMS (Gross Merchandise Sales) was $2.6 billion in the 2nd quarter of this year, down 6% year-over-year. However, the GMV grew by 141% since 2019, showing a long terms positive trend. The second quarter of 2022 also brought approximately 6 million new buyers to Etsy, and the company expanded internationally, with non-U.S. GMS for the Etsy marketplace now 44% of overall GMS, increasing 3% year-over-year.

Our second quarter results once again reflect that Etsy has maintained most of our pandemic gains, and that we are able to deliver strong bottom line performance while simultaneously investing in key initiatives.
