UPS Is Finally Available Through the Ship with Walmart API

Good news for Walmart Marketplace sellers and solution providers: UPS is now available through the Ship with Walmart API.

Ship with Walmart, or SWW, is Walmart’s shipping program for seller-fulfilled orders. It allows sellers to purchase discounted shipping labels using Walmart-negotiated rates, either directly in Seller Center or through an API. Walmart currently advertises savings of up to 60% compared with standard market rates, along with benefits such as order protection when shipments are sent on time.

Walmart has supported UPS, USPS, and FedEx through Ship with Walmart in Seller Center for some time. However, there was an important limitation for companies using the API: UPS labels were not available programmatically. Walmart’s own documentation previously specifically noted that API support included USPS and FedEx, but not UPS.

That has now changed.

We are now seeing UPS available through the Ship with Walmart API, which means integrations like GeekSeller can offer sellers access to all three major domestic carriers through the SWW workflow:

  • UPS
  • FedEx
  • USPS

This may sound like a small API update, but it is an important one for sellers using third-party platforms.

At GeekSeller, we allow sellers to purchase and print Ship with Walmart labels directly from our interface. Not having UPS available through the API meant that sellers who wanted to use Walmart’s UPS rates had to leave the integrated workflow and use Seller Center instead.

With UPS now accessible through the API, sellers can have a much more complete Ship with Walmart experience without leaving their order management system.

The SWW API already allows platforms to retrieve shipping estimates, purchase labels, obtain tracking numbers, download labels, and manage shipping workflows programmatically. Adding UPS makes the API considerably more useful for sellers who rely on multiple carriers or want to automatically select the best shipping option for each order.

It is also worth noting that Walmart’s public Developer Portal documentation currently still references USPS and FedEx for U.S. domestic SWW API shipments, so the documentation appears to be catching up with the functionality now available through the API.

For GeekSeller users, we are excited about this update. Access to UPS was one of the biggest missing pieces of the Ship with Walmart API.
