Walmart Marketplace Introduces New Product Claims Guidelines (Jun 2026)

Walmart Marketplace has announced updated guidelines for product claims as part of its ongoing effort to improve transparency and build trust with customers. Sellers should review these changes carefully, as non-compliant listings may be unpublished or restricted.

The updated policy provides clearer requirements around several common product claims, including:

  • Made in the USA claims
  • Biodegradable or Compostable claims
  • Textile content claims
  • PFAS and other “Forever Chemicals” claims
  • General product claims such as organic certifications, third-party approvals, heritage claims, and material composition

Some claims are now restricted or require strict compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. For example, products marketed as biodegradable or compostable may face additional restrictions, while “Made in the USA” claims must be consistent across product images, packaging, and listing content.

Sellers should review their catalogs and ensure all product claims are accurate, properly substantiated, and aligned with Walmart’s updated requirements. Taking proactive steps now can help prevent listing issues and maintain uninterrupted sales.
