Guide: Walmart’s Enhanced Vetting for Health & Wellness, Pets, Food, Beauty & Personal Care, and Baby Consumables

Walmart has introduced enhanced vetting for sellers listing items in Health & Wellness, Pets, Food, Beauty & Personal Care, and Baby Consumables categories. This update follows recent changes to the Prohibited Products Policy and aims to improve product quality, safety, and buyer trust on Walmart Marketplace. If you sell in any of these categories, Walmart now requires sellers to complete a Pre-Screen Questionnaire as part of the new vetting process.

What Walmart’s Questionnaire Includes

When sellers open the form, the category is listed as “Seller Eligibility for Restricted Categories.”

Here are the questions Walmart asks:

  1. Which restricted category do you wish to sell in?
(You can select only one per submission)
  2. Do you maintain traceable supply chain documentation for products within that category?
  3. Do you maintain compliance certificates or regulatory approvals for products within that category?
  4. Do you have prior experience selling in this category on Walmart or other platforms?
  5. Are you registered in Walmart’s Brand Portal?
    (Answering “No” doesn’t disqualify you.)
  6. If yes, under what name are you registered in the Brand Portal?
  7. Do you plan on listing other brands in this category that are not registered in the Brand Portal?
  8. If you are registered, what are the names of the brands you plan on listing?
  9. What is your preferred email address if additional documentation is required?
  10. Description or notes — sellers can explain any details or provide additional context.

What Walmart Is Looking For

Based on these questions, Walmart is focusing on ensuring:

  • Traceability – sellers should have clear documentation showing where products come from and how they move through the supply chain.
  • Regulatory compliance – documents such as FDA, EPA, or cosmetic safety certifications may be required.
  • Category experience – Walmart prefers sellers who have sold in similar categories before and understand related regulations.
  • Brand authenticity – Walmart wants proof that sellers are authorized to list the brands they offer, ideally through the Walmart Brand Portal.

What Sellers Should Prepare

If you sell in any of the restricted categories, it’s a good idea to keep the following ready at all times:

  • Invoices and supply chain records showing product sourcing.
  • Compliance and safety certificates (FDA, GMP, EPA, etc.).
  • Product photos and packaging documentation.
  • Brand authorization letters or Brand Portal registration.
  • Proof of sales history or experience in the same category.

This new process is part of Walmart’s broader effort to maintain high-quality standards and protect customers from non-compliant products. Submitting accurate information and keeping your compliance documents organized will help ensure smooth approvals and prevent listing interruptions.
