Highlights from Walmart Seller Summit 2025 in San Diego

This year marks the first time GeekSeller attended the Walmart Seller Summit, and it was an amazing experience. We had our own booth, connected with many sellers, and built new partnerships.

The event itself was very well organized — great presentations, smooth logistics, and even when we had a few hiccups with our booth, the Walmart team stepped up right away to help. Catering, sessions, and the overall energy were top-notch.

From the stage, the message was clear: Walmart is growing rapidly, investing heavily in AI, and advancing with Walmart Connect, WFS, and multichannel solutions. They’re not only consumer-centric but also show real support for sellers. For example, Walmart announced waived storage fees on WFS and 0% referral fees for toys, along with 50% reduced referral fees for pet products this holiday season — all to help sellers make Q4 more profitable.

Another exciting part of the Summit was hearing about the Walmart Advisors program, where invited sellers directly share feedback on tools and challenges, helping shape the future of the marketplace. Walmart also introduced new AI-powered tools, such as the Smart Assistant, which can expedite product listing creation and offer sellers advice 24/7.

We also saw many new tools and APIs being announced, and there are strong hints of more international expansion ahead. Walmart continues to prove they’re a true omnichannel company, blending digital and physical retail — from ordering online while shopping in-store to services like buying tires from a marketplace seller and having them installed at Walmart Auto Care.

Another big theme at the Summit was marketplace safety. Walmart addressed concerns about stricter restrictions in some categories, explaining the need to protect buyers from fraudulent sellers and products. We’ve seen some of our sellers at GeekSeller affected by recent product delistings, but Walmart is working through cases, and most are already back on the marketplace. The process of becoming a major player in commerce is not always smooth, but it’s clear Walmart is moving in the right direction. From our conversations, sellers shared mostly positive experiences, and we sympathize with both sides — sellers facing challenges and Walmart working to keep the marketplace safe.

What stood out most was the energy. Walmart has the scale of a huge company, yet still exhibits a startup-like enthusiasm in building a modern retail company with e-commerce at its core.

We’re grateful to Walmart for the opportunity to sponsor and participate in this Summit, and we look forward to all the collaboration ahead.
