Rithum
What is Rithum? (formerly ChannelAdvisor / CommerceHub)
Rithum is the evolved commerce network platform that unifies what used to be ChannelAdvisor and CommerceHub (and associated services).
A quick timeline:
- ChannelAdvisor was a cloud-based multichannel commerce management platform (connecting retailers, brands, marketplaces, etc.).
- In September 2022, CommerceHub agreed to acquire ChannelAdvisor.
- After the acquisition, the combined entity eventually rebranded under the name Rithum, bringing together the capabilities of CommerceHub, ChannelAdvisor, DSCO, etc.
- The name change to Rithum reflects a consolidation of the formerly separate brands and offerings.
So when you see references to “ChannelAdvisor” or “CommerceHub,” know that now those are part of the Rithum ecosystem.
What the GeekSeller – Rithum integration enables
Because GeekSeller does not offer native EDI-level integrations to retailers, we leverage this integration with Rithum as the bridge to connect your operations to large retailer networks.
Here’s what the integration makes possible:
- Order & inventory exchange — we can send your inventory levels and receive orders via the Rithum network.
- Multi-retailer connectivity — sellers leverage Rithum to connect to major retailers such as Best Buy, Macy’s, Dick’s, Home Depot, Academy, Bed Bath & Beyond (and more).
- Order routing & fulfillment flexibility:
- Marketplace orders (from those retailers) can be imported into GeekSeller and synchronized with your stock levels.
- From GeekSeller, you can push orders out to retail partners or route them to fulfillment systems.
- We can sync inventory quantities back to your channels (Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce) or send data to third-party systems (e.g. via SFTP, to 3PLs).
- We support fulfillment via external networks: for example Amazon FBA / MCF, Walmart WFS / MCS, etc.
- You can also send order/fulfillment data to SFTP endpoints (for partners or 3PLs) when needed.
How it works (at a high level)
- Setup & mapping
- You configure your product SKUs, mappings, and rules inside GeekSeller and link to your Rithum account.
- You define which retail channels / marketplaces you want to connect (Home Depot, Lowe’s, Best Buy, Macy’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Nordstrom, Kohl’s, QVC, Staples, Walgreens, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba, Sanyo, Meijer, Drugstore.com, Kroger, Sam’s Club, Academy Sports + Outdoors, etc.).
- Field mappings, order routing logic, and inventory sync rules are set.
- Inventory sync
- GeekSeller sends inventory updates to Rithum, which in turn updates retailer channels.
- If a sale happens on a retailer, the inventory is decremented upstream and reflected back into GeekSeller and/or your other sales channels (Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, etc.).
- Order import & processing
- Orders from retailers flow via Rithum into GeekSeller.
- GeekSeller can process those orders (e.g. validate, assign, etc.), then forward them to the fulfillment system or service.
- Fulfillment / routing
- Orders can be routed to internal or external fulfillment (3PLs, Amazon FBA/MCF, Walmart WFS/MCS, etc.).
- Shipment/tracking info is sent back through the pipeline so that marketplaces/retailers and your systems are updated.
- Data exchange / endpoint support
- For partners or systems that require file exchange, we can output/send data via SFTP or through intermediary systems (e.g. 3PLs).
- In short — the integration handles the heavy lifting of transforming and routing data between GeekSeller and Rithum (and thus to retailers).
Why this integration matters (vs direct EDI)
- GeekSeller does not natively provide EDI integration to large retailers, which can be complex and costly to maintain.
- By leveraging Rithum (which already supports retailer EDI and marketplace integrations), we avoid building and maintaining dozens of separate EDI links ourselves.
- This lets you “plug in” to major retailers faster, without reinventing the wheel on integration infrastructure.
